Clint Morgan grew up on Henry rifles and his dad’s M1 Carbine, and the Henry Homesteader reminds him of that old carbine. He wants to know whether this walnut 9mm carbine is the only one you need.
What he covers: Clint doesn’t say where the rifle came from, and a shop gave him the subsonic ammo. There is no paid sponsor. His rifle takes Glock magazines, and he runs it with 21 round Magpul mags. He says Henry also makes Sig, S&W, and Henry magazine versions, and he thinks most buyers will pick the Glock one. It is a direct blowback gun, but the weight and rubber butt pad soak up the recoil, and he says it’s like nothing. The controls work for either hand. It has a tang safety, bolt hold open tabs on both sides, a charging handle you can move to the left, and a reversible mag catch. He loves the walnut and calls it really classy. The barrel comes threaded for a suppressor, and he warns that a 5.56 can will thread on too, so don’t mount one just because it fits. Suppressed, he calls it a whole lot of fun. With Winchester 147 grain subsonics under one 124 grain round, it cycled and locked back on empty, and he hadn’t oiled it since taking it out of the box. The sights are pretty basic, a ghost ring and a front post. Next to a CZ Scorpion, it has far less aftermarket support but much less bounce. His MP5 clone recoils less. He reports great reliability so far but gives no round count. He’d be comfortable using it for home defense, and he admits 9mm is a little anemic next to 300 Blackout. Specific claims in the video are his, not ours.
Here’s our take. Buy the Henry Homesteader if you want a classy, soft shooting 9mm carbine that shares magazines with your pistol and is ready for a suppressor. Skip it if you want deep aftermarket support or better sights out of the box. Treat his video as an early look, not a long‑term test.
