Ruger 10/22 Carbine with hardwood stock and a 10 round magazine

mixup98 posted this video in August 2024. He opens in the Southern Nevada desert with a story from his favorite gun store, where a buddy behind the counter told him the Ruger 10/22 was their best seller right now. So he brought out his own four 10/22 rifles and walked through them on a table, shooting each one as he went. He says he bought his first 10/22 back in the 1980s and has owned them ever since.

Start with the small stuff he points out on the 10/22 Carbine, the one he shows first. He calls the sights “decent sights” and leaves it there. When the magazine runs dry, “the bolt does not lock back on the last round,” so you lock it back yourself with the little bolt lock button. He also notes that most models come with one 10‑round magazine, so anything bigger is an extra. And the carbine isn’t his favorite. That goes to the walnut Sporter, which he calls “a beautiful sleek looking rifle.” The tight group he mentions, about ¾ inch at 50 yards, came from that Sporter and not the carbine.

Then what he likes. He calls it “a basic simple gun” that “works,” and he walks through the hardwood stock, the raised scope mount, a rear sight that folds down, the push‑button safety and the bolt lock. He says the barrel is 18½ inches and it weighs about 5 lb. Shooting it, he notices “very little recoil on this rifle.” He also loads Ruger’s BX‑25 magazine with 25 rounds and runs it through. On reliability he doesn’t hedge. He doesn’t think “you’re going to find a more reliable rifle,” he says, and after the BX‑25 run he calls it an “extremely reliable rifle.”

His bottom line: “I absolutely love the rifle.” He shows a few other 10/22s along the way and ends with a little fun with his son. His last word to anyone thinking about one is “you will not regret it” and “I can almost guarantee it.” Specific claims in the video are his, not ours.

Here’s our take. This is one owner who has been shooting these for decades, and the carbine is one gun on one day. That’s a fair look at the one he shot, not a promise about every rifle off the line. His note about the bolt not locking back on the last round is worth knowing before you buy.

We stock the configuration he shows first, the Ruger 10/22 Carbine with a satin black barrel and hardwood stock. Ours is Ruger’s 250th Anniversary edition, with “Made in the 250th Year of American Liberty” engraved on the receiver. Otherwise it ships as Ruger builds it, and he doesn’t mention changing anything on his. Complete firearm. Indiana FFL transfer through Wulfy’s. Ask us for current fees.

The Ruger BX‑25 25‑round magazine he runs through it is on the shelf too.
