The M249S Para is a genuine semi‑automatic version of the M249 SAW light machine gun's short‑barreled Para configuration, adopted by the U.S. military for airborne and vehicle‑crew use -- a shorter cold‑hammer‑forged, chrome‑lined barrel firing from a closed bolt, accepting both magazines and linked ammunition belt just like the service weapon. A hydraulic recoil buffer system and non‑slip polymer buttplate manage the real recoil impulse of sustained‑fire‑capable hardware, and a folding stock keeps the shortened package genuinely compact. Real historical and mechanical fidelity to a specific military configuration, not a generically shortened lookalike.
