The M249S is a genuine semi‑automatic version of the M249 SAW light machine gun the U.S. military adopted in 1988 -- an 18.5‑inch cold‑hammer‑forged, chrome‑lined barrel firing from a closed bolt, accepting both magazines and linked ammunition belt just like the service weapon. A hydraulic recoil buffer system and non‑slip polymer buttplate manage the real recoil impulse of sustained‑fire‑capable hardware, and an under‑mounted ammunition container keeps a belt feeding cleanly. Genuine historical and mechanical fidelity to a weapon system that's equipped infantry squads for decades, not a lookalike built around a different action.
