Review This Thing takes a Ruger American Gen II Predator in 7mm‑08 to the range and shoots five factory hunting loads at 100 yards from the bench. Their video description says they “were not paid for this review” and that they “received some items at no cost for review,” without saying which items. They don’t say how they got the rifle. It wears a Leupold scope, and they mention shooting it with a suppressor and without. They give no measured group sizes, so what follows is their read on each target.
Start with their two complaints. They say “the cycling isn’t super smooth sometimes” and “You definitely have to hit it hard to make sure that next load goes in.” With the Nosler load it “seems to be hanging up a little bit more than the others, even though I’m still able to cycle it.” Then the trigger. “The trigger on this thing is a little heavier than I like and heavier than other rifles,” so “it’s not quite as smooth to squeeze,” though they add “so far it’s turning out okay.” Of the Hornady American Whitetail, they say this rifle “doesn’t seem to like these Hornady American Whitetails a ton. Your gun may love them.” Their only size estimate comes on the Barnes Harvest Collection group. “That’s probably a little over MOA, but not too bad.”
Then what went well. The Federal Fusion gave a “Pretty solid second shot” and they called it “Not too bad for the Federal Fusions.” The Winchester Deer Season XP was “hitting in basically the same spot as that last one,” which they like because “if ever mid‑hunt you had to switch up loads, that’s always a really cool thing.” They shot a fourth round there after saying “I feel like I pulled that a little bit,” then called it “a pretty genuine group.” On the Nosler Whitetail Country they say “Those are all three pretty doggone close.” They’re careful about scope. They’re “looking at accuracy out of this particular gun,” and “it also can vary gun to gun.” Specific claims in the video are theirs, not ours.
Here’s our take. This is one rifle, one session and five factory loads. The cycling and trigger notes are worth hearing before you buy. The groups tell you what their gun liked that day, not what yours will.
