Gum Branch Designs takes a stainless Heritage 92 in 45 Colt out to his range and shoots it at steel and jugs, partly from a bench. He says on camera that this one is the 24‑inch octagon stainless 45 Colt, and he sets it beside the 20‑inch carbine he covered in an earlier video so you can see the difference. He also owns Rossi lever guns. He doesn’t say how he got this rifle, and no sponsor is named in the video or the description. He says the 12 rounds he runs at the end were the first time he’d done that with this gun.
Start with his main complaint, the sights. He says that from a bench at 50 yards it was “shooting about 6 in to the left and about 3 in low”, and he didn’t have his tools along to drift the rear sight. Moving up to about 25 yards, he says “I’m shooting to the right on every one of them”. He “hit five out of six, but it’s not good grouping” and owns part of that himself, saying “I’m terrible with it”. His 20‑inch, he says, “seemed to be pretty dead on right out of the box”. His words on this one are “I would have liked for them to have been better than that right out of the box”, though he calls it “not the end of the world” and plans to adjust the sights or fit a Skinner peep sight. On the wood he notes “a small gap between the receiver and the stock. Not terrible.” Those results are his rifle and his session, not a promise from us.
Then what he likes. He says “Everything feels tight” and the butt plate “fits real good”. He likes the full‑length magazine tube, and says shortened tubes are “a deal breaker for me”. Next to his carbine he describes the octagon as “a little heavier barrel, a little thicker barrel”. On capacity he says “it definitely will take 12”, then he runs all 12 fast and reports “12 rounds, no problem”. He’s clear it isn’t meant as a defensive gun. He pitches it as “a traditional style lever action, a cowboy gun” for shooting in the yard and having fun. His Rossis have been through thousands of rounds and he says “I’ve never had a single problem out of them”. His wrap‑up is “all in all, I’m very pleased with these guns”, and he adds “this is just my opinion”. Specific claims in the video are his, not ours.
Here’s our take. This is one owner’s first real session with one rifle, and the sights on his were off out of the box while his other 92s were not. That’s worth knowing, but it’s still one gun and one shooter. If you pick one up, plan some range time to check where the sights hit before you count on them.
