Engraving vs the transfer itself
Two different jobs:
- Markings — laser engraving the text your approved paperwork calls for on the NFA item (suppressor, SBR receiver, or other Title II piece).
- The transfer / filing — Form 4 (or Form 1) with an FFL/SOT, fingerprints, photos, tax stamp, approval, pickup.
Mixing them up is how people email “can you engrave my can?” with no approval letter and “can you Form 4 this?” with no serial. Wulfy’s does both lanes, but they are not the same form and not the same wait.
If you are transferring here, we do the whole walkthrough in-house — photos, fingerprints (EFT), and paperwork on site. When to get markings done
The live engraving page is blunt: Wulfy’s engraves based on your ATF-approved paperwork — have your approved Form 4 or Form 1 in hand (or nearly there) before requesting a quote.
Plain-language frame (still not legal advice):
- Form 4 path (buying a can / NFA item through a dealer): markings follow what the approved paperwork and the manufacturer/importer already set. Do not invent extra text “because a forum said so.” Match the approval.
- Form 1 path (making an NFA firearm): timing and required fields are paperwork-driven. Confirm with your dealer and the ATF instructions on your form before you cut metal.
If you are still waiting on ATF approval, say so on the quote form — the page asks that question on purpose. Guessing the serial block before approval is how people pay twice.
We do not publish depth, height, or character-size rules here. Those belong in ATF primary sources and on your approved paperwork — not in a shop blog.
What to send Wulfy’s for a quote
