Honest Outlaw’s Springfield Hellcat Pro Review: Does a Thin 15+1 Compact Actually Shoot?

Is a thin 15+1 Hellcat Pro actually easier to shoot than the original micro, or do you still pay for size with a heavy striker trigger? Honest Outlaw put a thousand rounds through one to find out.

The short version of what he covers: Chris borrowed Elliot’s Hellcat Pro (Mr. Guns) and ran about 1,000 rounds over a few months — Eli 115 and 147, Phoenix remanufactured, Federal for the bulk of it, plus DRZ from True Shot. He reports 100% reliability: no chokes, no stove-pipes, nothing. Specs he walks through: 3.7″ barrel 9mm striker polymer, 15-round magazines, optics-ready out of the box, HD steel front/rear night sights, front serrations, thumb pad, Pic rail for a light. Unloaded weight he quotes around 21 oz vs a Glock 19 around 26 oz — same capacity class, thinner profile thanks to Hellcat/P365-style mag tech. He likes the grip texture (including the upper area he usually complains about) and the steel mags. His knock: accuracy and shootability vs a Sig Spectre Comp and a Glock 19. He puts a lot of that on the ~7.5 lb striker trigger with a long take-up and longer-than-needed reset. Recoil on this lighter gun felt closer to a .40 to him than a soft 9. He also shot it next to a P365 XL, Shield Plus / Performance Center, and CZ P-07; those felt faster/more accurate in his hands. Street price he heard around $600 ($5–700 depending on state). Aftermarket exists but trails Glock/Sig. Reliability/accuracy claims are his, not ours.

Here’s our take. A thousand clean rounds is what you want to hear on a carry gun. People look at the Pro because it’s a thin 15+1 instead of a full G19. The trade is the trigger he measured — heavy, long take-up, longer reset than he’d like. Aftermarket can clean that up later if you care about speed; out of the box it’s still a defensive press. He didn’t post groups or split times, so treat this as a reliability and shootability check, not a precision review.
