Springfield Armory | XD Service | 40 S&W | Melonite

The XD line runs Springfield's Ultra Safety Assurance system -- a grip safety, articulated trigger safety lever, and firing pin block working together so the pistol simply cannot discharge unless it's held and gripped correctly. A loaded chamber indicator and striker status indicator give both visual and tactile confirmation of the pistol's condition, and a Melonite‑finished, forged steel slide over a polymer frame backs genuine day‑to‑day durability. The Service configuration's 4.05‑inch barrel is tuned specifically for a balanced, easy‑to‑carry duty profile, chambered across 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 GAP, .45 ACP, and 10mm depending on model, with front and rear frame checkering giving a genuinely secure grip. Trijicon night sights on select models add real low‑light capability -- the XD's original service‑size configuration, the one the rest of the line branches off from.
