Introduced in 1953, the Single‑Six was Ruger's first revolver and helped revive single‑action shooting at a time when Colt had actually stopped making its own SAA. The New Model version (1973‑forward) added Ruger's transfer bar safety, a genuine advance over the original that lets you carry all six chambers loaded without the older design's risk, and it's chambered in rimfire calibers like .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR that make it an affordable, low‑recoil way to actually practice single‑action fundamentals. With over 1.7 million Single‑Sixes produced across both models, it's a revolver with a genuine, decades‑long track record behind it.
