The MK18 is the exact compact carbine Daniel Defense builds for USSOCOM, not a lookalike -- a 10.3‑inch cold hammer forged, chrome‑lined barrel with a carbine gas system, and the same RIS II Picatinny quad rail (with Daniel Defense's Bolt‑Up System) that's been battle‑tested and fielded by special operations units. The RIII URG (Upper Receiver Group) configuration pairs that same barrel and gas system with the newer, lighter RIS III M‑LOK rail instead of the original quad rail -- real weight savings on the same SOCOM‑proven barrel and gas system underneath.
