Reloading an AR from the firing grip usually means breaking your hold to reach the bolt catch on the left side of the receiver. Magpul's B.A.D. Lever (Battery Assist Device, MAG980) attaches to the factory bolt catch and extends a paddle to the right side, so you can lock or release the bolt with your trigger finger without putting that finger in the trigger guard. It is machined from 6061‑T6 aluminum, hard‑anodized, and installs with the included hardware and Torx wrench. No permanent modification to the rifle. Magpul left the original paddle usable, so the standard manual of arms still works. Some shooters find the extra paddle snags kit if it is not installed cleanly; it is worth a functions check after install. Made in the USA, with an NSN on the black version.
