The SCAR 17S is FN's original 7.62x51/.308 Win variant of the SCAR platform, developed alongside the U.S. military's SCAR program -- a cold‑hammer‑forged, chrome‑lined, free‑floating barrel through a short‑stroke gas piston system, with a hard‑anodized monolithic receiver and full‑length Picatinny rails at all four cardinal positions. A folding stock and fully ambidextrous controls round out a rifle built to the exact standard the military's own SCAR‑Heavy variant established.
