I built my own Mare’s Leg into a quiet, light hunting rifle that barely kicks, and this is the same build. It starts with a Henry H6 Mare’s Leg, chambered in .44 Magnum, and it also shoots .44 Special.
- Wood furniture, adapted. The wood stays, and we fit it to the build.
- Stock altered for the large loop. We take a little off the stock so your hand clears the big lever loop.
- Friction‑fit front end. It clicks into place with a carbon fiber filament insert, so there’s no rattle.
- Holosun 507K red dot. It sits on a custom‑milled mount where the rear dovetail sight would be.
- YHM R45 suppressor. We thread the barrel and fit the can.
- Set up for subsonic loads. With the R45, that’s where the quiet and the low recoil come from.
Lead time. Built to order. Plan on about three months from the day we take your order. If the schedule slips, we’ll tell you as soon as we know.
Paperwork. As of the ATF’s October 9, 2026 letter, suppressors and short‑barreled rifles no longer go through NFA approval or registration. We transfer them like any other firearm. You fill out a 4473 and we run the background check. State law still applies. If your state doesn’t allow it, we can’t ship it there.
