The MK18 is the exact compact carbine Daniel Defense builds for USSOCOM, not a lookalike -- a 10.3‑inch cold hammer forged, chrome‑lined barrel with a carbine gas system, and the same RIS II Picatinny quad rail (with Daniel Defense's Bolt‑Up System) that's been battle‑tested and fielded by special operations units. The RIII configuration swaps in Daniel Defense's newer, lighter RIS III M‑LOK rail in place of the original quad rail, on the same SOCOM‑fielded barrel and gas system -- real weight savings without changing the ballistics that made the MK18 the standard it is.
